Our history

Bohusläns museum started as a city museum already in 1861. In July 18, 1863, the museum opened in new premises at Kungsgatan 30 in Uddevalla. The business expanded particularly from the middle of the 20th century and 1977 the county museum was formed as Bohusläns museum. The new museum was opened in 1984 and this is the house you visit today. With new premises, exhibitions and extensive activities Bohusläns museum became known as a cultural center for everyone.

Bohusläns museum is one of Sweden's most visited museum with approximately 300 000 visitors every year. This is thanks to over 500 activities each year and many popular permanent and temporary exhibitions. You will always find something to do at Bohusläns museum so please visit us if you have the roads past.
